So you found out about Outlier.ai while trying to find ways to make money from home. Me too!
Let me get right to the point. Yes Outlier.ai is legit and they will pay you for the tasks you complete on the projects you are assigned to. But before I get into this Outlier.ai review and how it works as well as what you’ll be doing once you get accepted in, you should know what Outlier.ai is.
What Is Outlier.ai?
The easiest way to describe it is Outlier.ai is a remote work platform that connects subject matter experts to help train Generative AI. According to the companies LinkedIn it states they’ve paid out over $100M to more than 50,000 freelancers across the world. The company was founded by Mike Kim and Sean Byrnes in 2015 and is headquartered in San Francisco, California.
Companies that need help improving their AI will list their project(s) on Outlier’s marketplace which people like myself can onboard to see if we meet the project requirements. Their tasks can vary depending on the project from generating training data or trying to stump an AI model from providing the correct answer.
How Do I Apply For Outlier.ai?
Applying is really simple, it’s like applying for any other job online. You’ll upload your resume, fill out your address, and provide your availability. They will also ask you questions to find out what areas you may be a subject matter expert in order to match you up to a project better. If you’re ready to start earning already sign up here!
How Much Does Outlier.ai Pay?
Outlier.ai pay will be determined based on a few things:
- Your job for the project (From my experience the starting pay is around $15/hr and it can increase based on your performance.)
- Assessment Rate
- Each project has an assessment you have to take to see if you meet the minimum requirements. (The pay is usually the same hourly rate but can be slightly different depending on the project.)
- Time Per Task
- Each tasks will give you a limited amount of time in which you have to complete it. So if a task gives you 1 hour to finish and you complete it in 30 minutes. You’ll be paid $7.50 if the pay rate is $15/hr.
- Missions
- Outlier will occasionally give you a mission as a way to earn additional rewards for completed work.
- For example: One of my previous mission was a reward up to $200.00 for completing 16 qualifying hours of tasks. There are hour increment milestones that will add up to $200.00 once you hit the mission’s 16 required hours that qualify.
When Do I Get Paid?
So you’ve been assigned a project and started completing tasks. When do you get paid?
Well Outlier.ai pays out it’s freelancers weekly via your preferred option between directly to your bank account or PayPal. Keep in mind if you decide to have it paid directly to your bank account it can take a couple business days to show up.
Can I Do This While Working A Part-Time Or Full-Time Job?
Yes! You are an independent contractor and can choose how many hours to work a week. There have been some weeks I’ve only worked 5-10 hours and some weeks up to 30 hours depending on my schedule and if I feel like it.
Who Will I Be Working With?
Once you pass the project screening and onboarding you’ll be working along with other contributors led by an experienced squad lead. The squad lead will help you onboard and learn about how to successfully contribute to a range of projects. These squads also provide the opportunity to connect with other contributors from your domain of expertise through their community page.
